Hello

My name is Dr. Magdalena Lysenko. I am a Registered Psychologist in Nova Scotia.

I completed my M.A. and Ph.D. in the Clinical Developmental Psychology Program at York University.

I have received training at The Hospital for Sick Children, Centre of Addiction and Mental Health, York Catholic District School Board and the Children's Treatment Network. I completed my Pre-doctoral Residency at IWK Health Centre.

I approach my work with openness, growth and compassion. I specialize in understanding why children, teens, and young adults struggle at school or work, despite their best efforts. I help children and youth with behaviour regulation difficulties, inattention, anxiety and low mood.

Assessment

Population I work with: Children, teens and adults.

Types of assessments I do: Assessments examine learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, emotional regulation difficulties, and inattention. Assessments are completed in English. I do not complete assessments in French, so I cannot complete assessments for youth attending French educational programs.

Therapy

Population I work with: Children and youth up to age 19.

I provide therapy to individuals struggling with: attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, phobias, other stress-related concerns, and depression.

Therapy framework: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Behavioural Therapy.
